Tom Nonmacher
Founder of Good Elf Software
Known as The Data Whisperer
Tom Nonmacher has spent nearly three decades designing, repairing, and optimizing the data systems that businesses rely on when things have to work. Known by many as The Data Whisperer, Tom built his career solving production failures, untangling broken architectures, and making underperforming systems reliable again.
In 2006, Tom founded Good Elf Software, where he developed practical software solutions used across energy, construction, manufacturing, and professional services environments. His work has supported estimating platforms, payroll systems, field operations, compliance reporting, and enterprise integrations.
Today, Tom works as a Database Architect at Foley and Lardner LLP, where he designs and supports large scale SQL Server environments, analytics platforms, data pipelines, governance models, and high availability architectures. His background spans SQL Server, MySQL, DB2, PostgreSQL, Azure SQL, Microsoft Fabric, and Databricks.
From ETL pipelines to modern analytics and automation, Tom remains deeply hands on. The techniques and lessons learned in production environments form the foundation of the articles and guidance shared on SQLSupport.org and through his professional network on LinkedIn.
